Unnamed Falls: Morgan Creek
- Water Source
- Morgan Creek
- Location
- 2 1/2 miles southwest of Marquette
- Size
- 20 foot drop
- Directions
- From Marquette where US-41/M-28 makes a 90 degree turn
near Lake Superior, go about .5 miles south (to the right
facing the lake) to a signal light at Genesee Street.
Turn right (west) onto Genesee Street and go one block to
Division street (which becomes Co. Rd. 553) and go almost
2 miles. Just before you get to the Marquette Mountain
Ski resort (just before the "Pass with Care"
sign) turn right onto a trail road and go 1.3 miles to a
small turnout on the left of the road (shown above) that
is marked by an orange cone (also shown above). Park
there and walk down the hill a short distance to the
falls, which you can hear from the road.
- Other Information
- I visited the Unnamed Falls on Morgan Creek Falls 3
October 1991 and took the larger photo above. I revisited
the falls 29 November 2006 and took the other photos.
Although I was looking for the cone on the hillside on
the right side of the road, I missed it and didn't see it
until my way out. If you miss the cone and come to the
bridge, which is .4 miles farther down the road, you can
visit Morgan Falls at the
bridge and then turn around and stop .4 miles back at the
turnout for the Unnamed Falls. (You may click on the
picture for a larger version.)
