1970s

This Whitman Little Lulu and Friends to Color #1042-3-49 cents has 60 pages. It has a 1959 copyright date by Western Publishing Company, but it appears to be from 1972-74, because Marge's name has been dropped and the Whitman logo is similar to that of other books from those dates. The picture on the cover of this book is the same as that of two previous coloring books (see LL Coloring Books II 1950s-1960s).

This Whitman Little Lulu Coloring Book, #1663, has a 1974 copyright by Western Publishing Company, Inc., Racine, Wisconsin. It sold for 69 cents and has 128 pages. Here is a sample page from this book.

Hallmark Little Lulu Coloring Books (Undated)

This Little Lulu Lulu Coloring Book is with a Western Publishing Company, Inc. copyright, sole for 50 cents. It has 24 pages about 5" x 6", including one page with the same picture as that on the cover of the coloring book below. It appears to be from the 1970s, because it no longer has "Marge's" in the title and has a Western copyright rather than copyright to Marge.

This Little Lulu Coloring Book is a very little coloring book, about 4" x 5". It is by Hallmark with a Western copyright (no date, but it appears to be from the 1970s) and matches the Hallmark party supplies (see my napkins and tablecloth). This book has only 8 pictures, printed on only one side of the paper. It appears it was a party favor with that set. Here is a sample page from this little book.

1990s

Little Lulu A Coloring Book #2948 by Golden, with 1990, 1973 copyright by Western Publishing Company, Inc. has 48 pages. The cover is similar to that of Little Lulu Dot Book #1267 with a 1973 copyright by Whitman Publishing Company, Inc., except on the dot book Tubby is shown as a dot-to-dot picture. The pages of this coloring book are similar to those in the Color and Activity Book shown below, except some of the details of the pictures have been changed, including the background and the features of Lulu and her friends: the mouths are larger and the eyebrows are more curved, and Tubby's clothes are more like those of the later comics with long pants and a different collar. Below with the cover are some of the pages, showing first the pages in this coloring book and then the page from the 1973 coloring book.
