Upper Falls - Gratiot
River
Lower Falls - Gratiot River
-
- County:
- Keweenaw County
- Water Source:
- Gratiot River
- Drop:
- 15 foot gradual drop
- Location:
- 3 - 3.5 miles northwest of
Ahmeek
- Directions:
- Take 5 Mile Point Road
north from M-26/US 41 for about 2.3 miles to
Farmer Block Road. Turn left on Farmer Block Road
and go a little over a mile to where the road
makes a sharp right turn. Take a trail road that
goes straight ahead for about 1 mile to a gate.
Park at the gate and follow a path to the left
downhill to the Upper Falls. The path to the
right will lead to the lower falls.
- Trail:
- The trail is fairly easy to
follow and not very long. It runs along the top
of the bluff, but there are trails leading down
to the river in places.
- Other Information:
- I am not sure if I found
the lower falls. There were more of rapids along
the river, but that appeared to be all there was
for some distance downstream. Here are some more
photos of the river.
