Big Eddy Falls

Location: Menominee Indian Reservation, Menominee County, Wisconsin

Water Source: Wolf River

Drop: 10 Feet

Flow: Year

Directions: From downtown Shawno where Rt. 55 N and 47 turn right onto Main Street at Greenbay & Main and Rt. 22S turns left, take Rt. 55 north for 8.4 miles (through Kenesha at about mile 6) to the Y of 55 & 47. Stay on 55 for 14.1 miles (5.4 miles north of Kenesha Falls) to a house on the left and Dickie Road sign on the right; within .1 mile is an old 2-lane sand road to the left. I turned around and parked on the left side of the road.

Notes: I went to Big Eddy Falls in Wisconsin August 28, 2003. I walked about .2 mile into the sand road to the falls. The first half wasn't too bad, then there was a parking area off to the right, then the road was really rough. After about .1 mile more there was a Y in the road. I think my notes indicate the left fork was really, really rough; the right fork lead to a path along the river, and I took that fork to the falls. The first photo shows some falls upstream. Big Eddy Falls was split with a rocky island separating the two parts of the falls. The closer falls is 8 feet (shown in the second photo) and the farther falls is 10 feet and hard to get a good view, shown in the third photo. The last photo shows both parts from the top, along with some of the flowers that were blooming nearby. The wildflowers all along the road and the Wolf River were really pretty when I was there.
