- Black River, 9 miles south of Ishpeming, Marquette
- 20 foot drop
- From downtown Ishpeming take Business Route M-28 west to
Washington Street and turn left (south) on Washington
Street. Go about 1 mile to Co. Rd. 581, also called
Saginaw Street. Turn right onto Co. Rd. 581 and go about
7.5 miles across the Escanabe River to the Black River
Pathway on the right. Turn right (west) onto Black River
Pathway and go about .6 miles to a fork in the road. Take
the right fork for about .2 mies to a trail road on the
right. Turn right onto the trail road and go .4 miles to
a parking area marked by large stones.
- The short, east trail to the falls begins on the right
side of the stones.
- Other Information
- I was at Black River Falls on 1 June, 1994 and on 10
October, 1998. There is an island near the foot of the
falls that you can cross over to on a small footbridge to
get a head-on view of the falls.
