Location: Chase County, Kansas
Water Source: Prather Creek
Drop: 40 Feet
Directions: Take 177 S. from the junction of Rts. 50 and 177 near Strong City (toward the town of Cottonwood Falls) for about 3 miles. Turn right (west) toward Chase State Fishing Lake on the first road to the right past the Cottonwood River just inside Cottonwood Falls city limits and go about 1.5 miles (1 mile past the cemetery) to the gravel road at the entrance to the lake (there is a sign to the lake area) and turn left. Follow this road .2 mile to the earthen dam on the left and park off to the left (the dam is just before the lake). Hike across the dam and follow the trail to the left at the other end of the dam to the top of the falls (you can hear the falls from the dam.)
Notes: I visited Chase Lake Falls in March, 2004. It was almost dark when I found the falls. The first photo above shows the falls from the dam; the second from below the hill. The third photo shows the dam from the road near where I parked to walk cross the dam to the falls (the two-track dirt road is on the dam and is what I followed).
