Location: Winneshiek County, Iowa
Water Source: Dunning's Spring
Drop: 40 Feet
Directions: Go east on Quarry Road, from the intersection of College Drive and Quarry Road in Decorah, for 0.4 miles. Turn left onto the single-lane road with a small sign "Dunning's Spring" and continue .1 mile to the parking and picnic area. The falls can be seen from there.
Notes: I visited Dunning's Spring Falls on June 7, 2002. I went directly from Malanaphy Spring Falls. The directions from there follow: Stay on Pole Line Road from Malahaphy Spring Falls and continue east across Rt. 52 another .5 miles until you merge into College Avenue. Go another .8 miles to the 4-way stop (Casey's and Subway on the right). Go to the next street and turn left - it's a short block - the sign is on the left side of the street to Dunning's Spring - this is Quarry Road.
There is a path that goes up along the right side of the waterfall to the top. There are steps up the left side of the falls to above the falls where the spring comes out of the cliff.
When I was there, people were setting up chairs in the grassy area in front of the falls for a wedding.
