Location: La Salle County, Illinois
Water Source: Owl Canyon Creek
Drop:
Directions: Follow Rt. 178 for 2.75 miles from the Utica Exit off I-80, past Starved Rock State Park entrance) to Rt. 71. Take Rt. 71 east (left) for 2.7 miles to the Trail Parking area for the Owl/La Salle/Tonti Canyons Trailheads.
Notes: I visited Owl Canyon Falls on April 20, 2002. Owl Falls is on the same trail as La Salle Canyon Falls and Tonti Falls. You can pick up a map at the beginning of the trail. I found the trail to Owl Canyon as I was hiking to La Salle and Tonti Canyon Falls, and just hiked into the canyon to find the falls at the end.
Owl Canyon Falls was not as big nor as impressive as the other falls, and the trail was a little hard to follow at first, but it wasn't very far in.
The hillside approaching Owl Canyon was covered with wildflowers. These look like white Bleeding Hearts, which I had never seen before.
