Professional Activities


Educational Administrator
 
Before taking early retirement from the public schools in Illinois, I was an elementary principal and then the Director of Special Programs in Pekin Elementary School District 108. In that position I directed special education, Chapter I, gifted, early childhood, and Even Start programs.

I also directed the communication program and the district wellness program, was responsible for passing a bond referendum, developed and maintained the board policy manual and administrative procedures manual, and was responsible for various other tasks.


Student and Graduate Assistant
 
I completed my Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Educational Administration at Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois in May, 1999. I was a graduate assistant. In that position I helped to support the research the Laboratory School teachers were doing. I also helped write articles and create the web pages for the lab school online journal Exemplary Practice. I worked with Dr. Trisha H. Klass.

Facilitator/Trainer
 
I received training as facilitator for school district Learning Leadership Teams through the Institute for Development of Educational Activities (I/D/E/A). I received training to be trainer for Executive Leadership Institutes (ELI) and Leadership Development Institutes (LDI) through Motorola University. I was self employed and worked under contract as a trainer for Motorola University's Learning Leadership Teams, Executive Leadership Institute, and Leadership Development Institute. In addition, I conducted research for Motorola University related to the Learning Leadership Teams.

I also served as facilitator/trainer for school districts, schools, and other organizations, mainly in the area of Team Building or Team Building/Conflict Resolution or in retreats or long-range planning. Some of those with whom I've worked include:
